You’re now or will soon be part of a dedicated team within the Defender Board of Directors. Together, we’ll push boundaries, overcome challenges, and hold each other accountable to high standards of discipline and growth. This is your space to connect, strategize, and lead.
The Team Human Mission:
Use Power and Love in Defense of Meaning and Freedom
As a Defender squad member, we embody the Defender Board’s core values of power, love, meaning, and freedom---something you will learn more about in the Defender Course of Shields. Our mission is to be powerful defenders of life for the good of ourselves, those around us, and society at large. As powerful defender males, we reverse the flow, embracing a "living is giving" masculine destiny.
MEETINGS: Every man is ready to fulfill any of these roles each week
PREPARATION: Every member of the squad plays a crucial role in its success.
Arrive with suitable technology, best on a fixed computer with microphone & headset, etc. but if all you can manage is a phone & earbuds while walking in the park, do that. If you can, have a pen and notebook for taking notes.
PRE-MEETING: The Preamble is found at the top of every WhatsApp channel.
A 60-90 minute meeting protocol is affected by number of participants so here’s how we operate:
1st 5 minutes: shoot the breeze, say hello, Lead and Second record order of arrivals
(optionally, with less men you can discuss any topic for 10 mins ) someone keep an eye on the WhatsApp squad chat
START: Otherwise, at 5 mins in, whomever is leading will call the meeting to order and read the preamble which he ends with "DEFENDERS?" to which men answer "DEFEND!"
Lead divides available time by number of men present and invites first man to "check-in with us"
ACCOUNTABILITY: Check-ins use the P1-P2-P3-P4 format or the Fast check-in using 5 or so minutes max.

FEEDBACK: After each check in the Leader invites anyone to provide support, comments or feedback (or designates someone)
Members raise hands and leader calls them in order
Keep your feedback short and sweet by speaking encouragement directly to whomever is checking in
Use the Sandwich Method, General Influence shields, and Chat Code of Conduct as guides
ONE THING ASK: Leader finishes each man's check-in by asking "What's one thing you'll commit to doing do this week?"
Second records it to add to Squad chat.
CALL OUT: Before moving to next check in, Leader calls out "DEFENDER?" and the squad answers "DEFEND!"
- Leader and Second coordinate until everyone present has checked-in.
END OF MEETING: Leader calls out "DEFENDERS?" Squad answers in unison: "DEFEND!"

Leader invites Second to comment on meeting,
then opens floor, unmuted encouragement of each other, see you in the chat, etc.

1st Role
The Squad Lead
Lists squad members names in order of arrival, names his second, and after 5 mins calls the meeting to order by reading the preamble, then facilitates weekly check-ins .
2nd Role
The Squad Second
The Second helps the leader stay on track by watching the time, records the ONE THING promise from each member and puts in the squad chat. Every man is a second.
3rd Role
The Squad Scout
Keeps morale high and motivates by using the sandwich method providing encouraging feedback. Every man is a scout.
4th Role
Uses positive influence to instill shoulder to shoulder camaraderie with squad members. Every man is a look out
